Local testbeds and their resources

The FIBRE Testbed is a federation of local testbeds (a.k.a. “islands”).

A typical Island is compoused of at least:

  • 01 Switch Top of Rack
      • Remote Management support – mandatory
      • SNMPv2 enabled – mandatory
      • 4094 VLANs – mandatory
      • Q-in-Q support – mandatory
      • Desirable
        • Selective Q-in-Q support
        • OpenFlow 1.0 support
  • 01 Virtualization Server
      • 2x Intel Xeon E5-2630 (2.3GHz,15M)
      • 64GB Memory (8x 8GB)
      • 4x Hard Disk 1TB SATA
      • At least 03 Network Interfaces 1Gbps
  • 02 OpenFlows Switches or 01 OpenFlow Switch with 02 virtual switches
      • OpenFlow 1.0 support

Some Islands might have extra experimentation equipments, like wireless nodes or IoT devices.
